Officially my last bike trip in TH as my driving license is about to expire and since I don't live in TH anymore, I cannot renew it. Traditionally Yarik is joining the adventure, but this time on surprise bike! Picking up the bike from rental and taking direct route from CM to CR, one that we never took before as it looked too boring on google maps... we were wrong!

      Hi there, yeah we did go in rainy season (May), but got lucky. We had actual rain only for like 20min during 1 week trip, not counting the nights. But to be fair, unless you are on top of the mountain or some really forested area, I'd not care about the rain, it's too hot anyway. If you can choose, it's generally better to go in December, but you don't get such colors...

    Which one you chose? V strom or kawasaki versys??

    • @brunoklarin
      @brunoklarin 3 года назад

      Personally Versys because it's engine has more sporty tune and has better suspension. I would have chosen V strom if I did not care about reving (all the power is in low range) and it's lower height makes it more manageble. Also rear view mirrors on V strom are horrible (they are for some reason tall but short which doesn't work), but thats replaceable. And lastly, even though Versys instrument board is old looking, V strom has the ugliest one out there (also my personal opinion).

    Many Thai-drivers are all-out assholes and need to be taught a lesson..how would you compare the V-Strom to the Versys 650 regarding comfort,speed and sitting-position? Let me know if you go to Nan (Pua) great cafe called Shanti retreat.

    • @brunoklarin
      @brunoklarin 3 года назад

      V-Strom is more about low rev power. Higher rpm you go the weaker pull gets. Versys is mid range rev power, and more rev you give it more it pulls. Suspension on Versys is also a bit better. Sitting position is upward on both although on V-Strom a bit more as I remember. Comfort is pretty much same same. I don't live in Thailand anymore, but thanks for invite.

    Sorry to say this, the scenery is nice and I think you had lots of fun. I don't know where you are from, but this is not like driving in the alps. Maybe more like driving on the Autobahn in Switzerland or Südtirol - only in hot weather and on the wrong side of the road ;-)

    • @brunoklarin
      @brunoklarin 4 года назад

      Hi mbcalency, no need to apologize, your opinion is sensible and understandable. I was not after downplaying Alps, which I find magnificent and love to visit as much as I can. However from perspective of living in Bangkok and having Thailand to explore, the road on this video was on what appeared as random hills on a way to Chiang Mai (proper mountain area). For me it was true discovery, and I understand it might not be relatable to everyone. I haven't explored much of the Autobahn, just some around Munich area towards Alps recently, and to my memory I liked one in video much more. I have also explored Swiss Alps (through whole length), very little of French side, quite a lot of Austrian and Italian side as well. As I am originally from basically next to Alps, I do take them somewhat for granted, and expect maximum scenery whenever I go through. This probably contributed to my likeness to mountains in this video as they just appeared from nowhere, with 0 expectation. Also hot weather can be brutal, but on upside you have 365 riding days in a year (if you don't mind some rain) and for wrong side I agree, however it makes little difference when on bike. Cheers!

    And how about the comparison between versys and new vstrom??

    • @brunoklarin
      @brunoklarin 4 года назад

      Sure, in short they feel totally different. V-Strom has huge power on low RPM, 0-100 km/h is at 3.2 seconds. However when it reaches 100km/h the power drastically falls and even though it keeps reving higher it basically creates noise and vibration for not much effect, so you have to upshift. Versys is different, you get more power as you rev higher so it's actually more fun to drive (for me) as you get rewarded for higher RPM. Versys is taller and has higher center of gravity which makes turning on V-Strom easier are gives more confidence (not that Versys feels unstable). If I had to choose between two I would go with Versys, it's much sportier engine feel even though its slower in acceleration, suspension feels a bit better, if only throttle and clutch were on Suzuki level (although they are not bad). Suzuki has incredibly smooth throttle and my 3y old Versys started to get a bit jumpy on throttle touch. Windscreen is adjustable on Versys, not on V-Strom... saddle bags are also very nice on Versys but expensive... V-Strom also seems to get more vibration and not as nice engine sound although engine sound is very personal opinion.

    Hello! Thanks for uploading your video... Wow! i was just blown away by how interconnected all the ski areas are. I will be heading to Shiga Kogen to ski hopefully next Feb 2020 and I just have a few questions I hope you could help me with! 1. As I am planning to stay near the Ichinose Ski areas, i'm wondering if the Ichinose Ski areas (diamond / family) connect to Yakebitaiyama? is it easy navigating your way through the ski areas to Yakebitaiyama, and then back to the Ichinose ski areas? Does it involve taking a certain path down Yakebitaiyama if you want to head back to Ichinose areas? Are there signs / maps around to help with navigating? Is it easy to get lost? 2. Having skied at so many areas around Ichinose, which ski area do you think is best for (a) the mountain views; and (b) long runs (for beginner / intermediate)? Look forward to hearing from you and thank you very much in advance! :)

    • @brunoklarin
      @brunoklarin 5 лет назад

      Hi there! Yes it is very easy to get to Yake... area. Basically you do few hops from track to track and use different lifts. I think it is very easy. Most confusing was they have 2 similar gondolas close by, but if you get there that means you're in Yake already. As for longest runs, they start from top of both mountains and tracks are well marked as per difficulty level. Ichinose is easier so I recommend you start there. Otherwise maps on premise are very helpful and I haven't felt lost at any time.
